At the motel, a very clean Super 8, I top of the rear end, do some laundry and
hit the hay. Tomorrow, I'm going to stop at Engle Motors in Kansas City to get
things checked out. I've never been to the place and would like to see it.
I'm at the dealership around 9 am and the service manager immediately knows
the problem. He says that they probably forgot to put the o-rings on the ABS
sensor. That turns out to be the problem. This is a great shop. You can tell
it's a rear motorcycle shop by the inventory stuck in the ceiling. The shop has
two stories with the service department downstairs and sales/parts upstairs.
They look like they've been there a hundred years. With the oil leak problem
fixed and a new tire on the front, I'm heading southeast. I'm hoping to get into
Tennessee for the evening and then push home the next day.
| Instead of going through St. Louis I'm going to follow the
Mississippi River along it's west bank. In Charleston, Missouri I take
Highway 60 toward Paducah, Kentucky. Before long I cross a beautiful old
steel bridge crossing the Mississippi. After that I'm in Illinois for
just a minute and I'm on another equally beautiful bridge crossing the
Ohio River. There are sections of Highway 60 that are wonderful with a
lush tree covered roadway. |

I do stop for the night in Tennessee. The next morning I stop at the BMW
dealer in Atlanta. The owners, Bob and Linda are great people who are seriously
into motorcycling. It turns out that they are about to leave for the Grand
Canyon and are finishing up some final details at the shop. I stop at this
dealership every chance I get since it is so great. Then it's time for the long
drone down I-75.
It will be nice to get the dog out of prison tomorrow. Once again, a BMW has
let me down. In Colorado I almost bought a V-Strom, and then thought about the
warranty I've purchased. When will I learn? |
