Day 8-Rawlins, WY

There are a bunch of us stirring early this morning. Many folks have a long way to go to be at work on Monday. It won't be long before I'm in that same boat. Today is not that day. The sun is hidden behind the mountains, but there is still a good deal of light. When it peaks between two mountains the sunlight slices through the aspen and cleans me soul.
The further north I travel the less trees there are. Near the Colorado/Wyoming border there are some beautiful farms. All the buildings are white with red roofs.
It's only 12:30 local time and I'm at the nights destination, Rawlins, WY. I toy with the idea of going further, but I'm in no hurry. This is clearly a petroleum town trying to be a city. The odor of fuel permeates the air. A lot of folks appear to have a Native American heritage and I'm amazed at how both the people and surroundings have changed in a few hundred miles.

I'm going to zone out today and take in a movie. Tomorrow I'll be in the mountains again.
