In keeping with the theme of the trip, I'm going to go where the
weather is good. My friend will be working his way up to the BMWRA Rally
in West Virginia and the weather doesn't look good in that direction.
Each RA Rally seems to have weather issues. The last one in West
Virginia experienced a tropical storm. I was at the RA Rally in Quebec
where they had the worst rain on record. The wind was so bad it snapped
the poles on my tent and the rally organizers had to move everyone into
the animal barns. Fortunately, we were the only animals inside at the
time. I toyed with the idea of going to West VA for the rally. From what
I hear about the weather, I made a good decision.
| I'm always amazed at how quickly you can click
off states when you're on the east coast. Today it was VA, TN,
NC, SC and GA. There was only a little rain in NC and then the
skies turned a beautiful blue. This time around Greenville I
wander through the city rather than take the bypass and end up
back on Hwy 25 south. I intend to take as many small roads as I
can on the way south with the intentions of stopping when I'm
tired.
Around the Strom Thurmond Lake I find some dirt and very tiny
roads like Martindale Road. Many of them end in pine forest
lumber tracts which works out well since detouring leads to
other tiny roads. There are small farms that look as if they've
been abandoned if not for the corn that is so tall. Maybe they
are part of a larger farm and the buildings are no longer used,
maybe not. |

In Jessup I try to find a motel that will give me bonus points on my
motel card without any luck. Brunswick, GA is close by and I'll have to
go that direction to get home anyway. It's getting warm and it's been a
good day. |
